In accordance with the roadmap published today, the team zcash for planning a series of updates next year.
The zcash for the blog, co-founder Zuko Wilcox and technical Director Nathan Wilcox spoke in detail about the two stages of modernization – “Overwinter” and “Sapling”, the latter of which was discussed earlier, during the upgrade road map in the beginning of this year. According to the post, the purpose of upgrading in the next year is “improving performance, security and ease of use zcash for”.
The first update, Overwinter, scheduled for release in June 2018. The purpose of the update is to “make itself, and future updates of the network safer for users, even in the case of competition for control.” Wilcox said that details about the update will be published in the blog later.
The second update, to be held in September, focused around the Protocol “Sapling”, which aims at improving the network performance.
Sapling activates the update Protocol Sapling, and it can significantly reduce both time and technical resources to conduct secure transactions, and in addition, makes it possible to support mobile wallets. The Sapling will also rely on the settings of open participation, Powers of Tau, which greatly reduces the risks when setting the parameters for zkSNARK applications (including other applications outside the zcash for).
At the end of the post, the authors reported that in the future there may be other updates that will affect the functionality of smart contracts and research validates the evidence.
Possible directions for apdejtam are in the areas of scalability, the purpose of which is unlimited transactions; new consensus algorithms such as Proof-of-Stake, and private and scalable smart contracts.
