According to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) venture company owned by the Founders Fund Peter Thiel has invested millions in bitcoin.
It is reported that the Fund has invested 15-20 million dollars in bitcoin. From 1 January 2017 BTC grew by nearly 1,400 percent.
From the article The Wall Street Journal it is unclear, whether the Fund sold part of its assets or not.
Thiel, cofounder of PayPal and early Facebook investor, also is the Advisory Council President of the trump. At the October investment conference til spoke positively about cryptocurrencies and, in particular, of bitcoin, stating:
Although I am skeptical about most altcoins, I do think people are slightly underestimating bitcoin in particular, because it’s like a backup form of money. If bitcoin is going to be the cyber-equivalent of gold, it has a lot of potential.
The market reaction
After The Wall Street Journal reported Founder investment Fund in BTC, the price of the cryptocurrency the number one increased in the last few hours it grew by almost 14 percent and reached a peak at around 15 444 USD per coin. At the time of publication the article the price of bitcoin has declined a bit and is in the area of 14,600 US dollars.
