The U.S. marshals service plans to auction off bitcoins worth approximately $ 52 million

The US government is selling bitcoins again, and this time, it’s quite a significant sum in US dollars

In a press release issued on this subject, says that the auction will last for 6 hours, and it is planned to sell 3813 bitcoins. Potential participants are required to make a Deposit in the amount of 200 000 USD.

These bitcoins were seized in the course of various Federal criminal, civil and administrative cases.

The auction will be closed and will be held in 3 stages: series A (5 blocks 500 bitcoins), series B (5 units for 100 bitcoins), and series C (1 unit is approximately 813 bitcoins).

Requirements for participants

Stakeholders not only need to make a Deposit in the amount of 200 thousand dollars, but they must register with USMS. In addition, you must provide documents which include the registration form, photos, and the Deposit of 200 000 USD must be transferred from the Bank of the United States.

Those who win the auction will have to make a cash payment in U.S. dollars. Purchased bitcoins can be transferred only to the address which had not previously been used.

Previously, the US government sold the confiscated bitcoins from the auction. So in 2014 auction was sold around 50.000 coins at a price of 373 dollars per coin, most of which was acquired by Tim Draper and the firm Second Market.
