Two suspects arrested, and the police of the County of Santa Clara announced in the search for the third robber. The group allegedly stole the computer where the bitcoins were worth $ 10,000.
According to the local Sheriff, on Saturday, the family of Santa Clara hired workers to help with the move. They agreed to pay for moving things in the truck, but the suspects after the work done began to demand much more than the agreed amount.
The family refused to pay more, and the suspects as “compensation” awarded the TV and the Apple iMac computer.
The computer was valued at $ 3,000, however, the victims stated that on the hard drive are stored bitcoins in the amount of $ 10,000.
The suspects fled in a gray two-door compact Lexus SC400. Police received a videotape of the incident and identified the offenders are 18-year-old Jessica Barajas of San Jose and the 24-year-old Wellbore Quintanilla also from San Jose.
Investigators went to the house of Ms. Barajas and searched him, but could not find the stolen items. Barajas was arrested on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy and sent to prison of the County of Santa Clara.
The police also searched the house of Quintanilla, but there was a stolen computer and a television could not be found. The young man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and violation of parole.
“Personal electronic devices have become wallets that can store a huge amount of money”, — reads the statement of the Sheriff Laurie Smith. “The public should take the necessary steps to protect their virtual property because it is no less vulnerable than traditional money.”
