Chief Executive officer of Twitter, Jack Dorsey on Wednesday, September 5, in his speech before a congressional Committee, said that his company is exploring the possible applications of the blockchain technology.
The hearing was held in the Committee on energy and Commerce of the United States.
Doris Matsui, representative from California, asked Twitter CEO about the potential of blockchain technology for his company. Dorsey replied that the blockchain can be used to combat misinformation and fraud:
The blockchain has tremendous potential, especially in the area of verification of distributed systems. We are investigating possible applications of this technology in our company, but, unfortunately, not gone as far as we would like.
Also on 5 September, Dorsey was present at another meeting on Capitol hill, where he gave testimony at the meeting of the intelligence Committee of the U.S. Senate dedicated to the alleged interference in the U.S. presidential election in 2016.
