We have already reported about the cases in Russia and Ukraine, when the police found mining farm in the most unexpected places, for example, on the territory of state-owned enterprises.
This time 14 people from 13 different companies were arrested in South Korea for illegal use of cheap power for the mining of cryptocurrencies in industrial complexes.
According to the Yonhap news Agency, the illegal mining farm was discovered in four different complexes in the city of Gwangju.
Companies that operate in such complexes, pay for electricity, on average, 10% less than in other parts of the country, and rents in these complexes is also smaller. The problem is that these systems are not designed for mining.
It is reported that each company used approximately from 100 to 350 miners, and the activities conducted since may last year.
This is not the first such case. Last August, a few mining farms was discovered in one of the largest shopping centers in South Korea.
