The parent company of the Bank Metropolitan Bank Holding Corp. said Tuesday that previously published in media reports was incorrect, and the Bank of the principles of operation have not changed.
We will remind that earlier Fortune announced that bitcoin Metropolitan Bank has stopped the processing associated with the cryptocurrency of international transfers, citing the inability to verify these transactions for compliance with certain rules, or regulations of foreign banks. Fortune suggested that Metropolitan had the courage to take this step after the detection of cases of fraud involving one of his clients.
The Bank’s representatives said the following:
“Well-established principles of the Bank act to the present day. Last week the Bank sent out a reminder to customers regarding a policy against accepting Bank transfers related to cryptocurrency from persons who are not residents of the United States. It’s a reminder, not a message about the policy change, which has nothing to do with the “incident in international fraud”.
The statement did not mention domestic or international remittances received from U.S. registered entities. in addition, the Metropolitan stressed that the existing policy was the result of a strategy to avoid unnecessary risks:
“The established policy of Metropolitan in relation to the waiver associated with the cryptocurrency Bank transfers from registered outside the United States is part of a robust risk management program, which is designed to ensure safe and transparent operation of the Bank in accordance with the requirements of relevant laws, regulations and directives”.
